Our Arts Faculty comprises of three sub-departments; Music, Drama and Art.
Music is a multi-faceted and involved art form that is unique in its combinations of skills, variety of application, intricacy and depth of association. It can be said that Music is integral to Humanity, Science, Art, Literature, History, Language and Mathematics. We aim to empower our students to explore musicality in its many forms, whether through performance, composition, analysis, academia, theoretical or technological; To facilitate the sharing of experiences, knowledge and skills, so that out students can discover music and its many rewarding pursuits.
Students work is celebrated through regular and inclusive concerts and showcases, which provides a platform for our students to develop stagecraft, diligent and robust work ethics and to take ownership of the planning and production phases; supporting and creating opportunities for students to show leadership, creativity and task management. Students contribute to community projects that support cross curricular links these have included: International Links, Every Child Matters and Enterprise. Students are also involved in delivering specialist Art workshops for local feeder primaries.
The department boasts a faculty that are specialist practitioners and deliver a multi-disciplinary learning experience, sharing expertise and specialist knowledge. A spacious and accessible suit of 6 practice rooms all well equipped for rehearsal, a recording studio with a range of quality microphones and instruments for students to use.
Art is a vehicle that conveys a multi-cultural world without barriers or prejudice, contributing to an unbiased learning experience. The Art Department aims to provide an environment that encourages all students to express their ideas and insights of the world around them. Central to this vision is the development of ‘creativity’ both as a means of expression and as a fundamental ingredient of innovation.
Students’ artwork is celebrated through vibrant displays in the department, throughout the school environment and in the larger local community. Students contribute to community projects that support cross curricular links. The department is compiled of purpose built facilities which include a 3D studio complete with a kiln and an ICT room in addition to the general purpose Art classrooms. All departmental staff are specialist practitioners and deliver a multi-disciplinary learning experience, sharing expertise and specialist knowledge.
