Last half term students from Bedlington Community High School took part in a cycling course. They were learning how to cycle safely and cycled to Blyth, the Port of Blyth, Newbiggin and Cambois. On Tuesday 18 July Mr Allman, together with two year 9 students and one year 8 student, took part in a big bike ride. This was part of the ‘Go Smarter’ programme with ‘WATBike’. The national cycle route took the students up the Furness Bank in Bedlington and on to Bebside and Cramlington before arriving at the Quorun Business Park.
Once they arrived they stopped off at Greggs for some lunch which has its headquarters on the business park. The students then met the marketing lead responsible for attracting companies and businesses on to the business Park. It has a sports and fitness centre for any one employed by the companies on the business park. The park also holds family fun days for anyone employed on the business park at key times in the year. The students were also told about the companies on the business park and there are well known companies on the park like Tesco Bank. They also visited one of the unoccupied buildings to see what a typical building looks like and the views were stunning from the top floor. This was a good experience for the students and made them think about career opportunities available in the future.
