Netballer’s Triumph

On Thursday 30th March the Year 10 netball team were invited to Finals Night after finishing in the top 2 of their league. It was a fantastic achievement after a very successful season with dedication from the whole squad and the girls were excited for their final two matches. First up were King Edward Morpeth, BCHS started the game very well and with confidence. Some great interceptions and defending kept the scores within reach at half time. In the second half KEVI pulled away but our girls kept it going until the end. The match finished 15 – 5 to KEVI but the score didn’t reflect the game and the team were complimented for how well they played with Sara Appleby earning player of the match. Next up was the deciding match for 3rd and 4th place against Berwick, having given it everything in the first match the girls continued to shine but the score line was much closer. Going into the final minutes it was 5-5 but Sophie Williamson and Aimee Urwin worked hard to prevent Berwick from scoring and bring the ball down to our end where Robyn Hankinson delivered not letting the pressure get to her and scored the winning goal for BCHS to finish 3rd in the county. A huge congratulations to the whole squad; Holly Richardson, Robyn Hankinson, Cobie Smith, Sara Appleby, Emma Lively, Hannah Dolby, Sophie Williamson and Aimee Urwin, a fantastic achievement to be proud of.
